On BLOOD-C and Blood: The Last Vampire:

I haven’t particularly noticed reviewers with this problem, but it is an ongoing misunderstanding that Blood the Last Vampire, Blood+, and BLOOD-C take place in the same universe, because they’re part of the same franchise.

It’s not something we do in a lot of pop media here…even when different authors contribute to a particular canon (like Star Wars EU or Dragonlance or whatnot), they’re expected to be adding to but not contradicting what exists, right?

But Blood: The Last Vampire (the franchise) is different. In an interview we posted in animeOnline back in the day, now sadly offline and seemingly uncached anywhere else, a producer involved in Blood+— I forget which one —mentioned that the concept behind the franchise was that each new entry into the franchise had a new vision; the unifying element is simply Saya: a supernatural beauty in a school uniform with a katana fighting monsters/vampires. Even adaptations of the anime iterations (specifically I’m thinking of the Blood+ novel series) have had their differences.

It’s kind of a neat idea; basically the franchise is completely stripped down to its bare essentials and remade every time.

I’m especially excited to see how fans respond to BLOOD-C: The Last Dark. In many ways it pays homage to the original film while still being firmly part of its own unique take on Saya.

Can’t wait! ♥

Are three completely different stories with three different Saya’s and are in no way connected to each other.

Capcom's Sengoku Basara Gets All-Female Takarazuka Musical

So, apparently Sengoku Basara is going to get the Takarazuka treatment. CAPCOM’s historical action game franchise is set to be adapted into an all-female cast stage musical.

I don’t know about you guys, but we’re pretty excited. Probably almost as excited as Kasuga.

Sengoku Basara, the Last Party movie is now available on BD/DVD Combo. This is the last installment of the series, so pick it up and brush up on the franchise before it hits the stage next year!
